I am a snorer. It got worse once my daughter was born in 2006. At that point, I had to do something. I know there are many of you out there that suffer like I do, waking up a zombie every morning.
I knew I had a problem when my wife started complaining about it. In fact, it got so bad that I was relegated to the guest bedroom for the better part of 8 years. It affected our relationship: traveling for vacations became problematic; sleeping in the same bed was impossible.
So, I sought help to understand my problem. It turns out that I have a deviated septum, which was discovered only after a Doctor specializing in snoring (painfully) shoved an endoscope up my nose. I also saw a Pulmonologist who had me do two sleep studies to confirm that I also had atypical obstructive sleep apnea.
I'll try to chronicle what all this means. Doctors can be cryptic at times. I know mine was pretty dismissive and just gave me a prescription for a CPAP. If you don't understand, ask. If you don't want to, I'll try to help by sharing my own journey through my blog posts.
